What is
Yoga?
Yoga is a traditional Indian practice that is thousands of years old,
encompassing moral development, breath, meditation, physical postures,
and spiritual liberation.
We offer
Hatha Vinyasa style Yoga. Hatha means "sun-moon,"
and is a practice based on beneficial body positions and breath.
Vinyasa means "flow." Like variations of Suryanamaskar
(the "sun salutation,") movements in class tend to be
organized into flowing sequence.
To get started today, check out the current
class schedule.
Yoga class is a special
kind of workout. Because it comes from a spiritual tradition, the
classroom maintains a friendly, sacred atmosphere where people come
together to train their bodies and minds.

Yoga Class
You should bring comfortable clothes that
allow you to move easily. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to sign in,
get changed, and settle into class. Class begins and ends by chanting
"Om," which is said to be the sound that the universe
resonates with. Some teachers will lead a few other simple chants that
are easy to follow.
Most of the class time you will be moving your
body through a variety of interesting and challenging positions which
help you build strength, flexibility, and concentration. As you continue
to practice, the positions will become familiar and you will discover
new challenges to keep you engaged in the journey. Class ends with a restorative
pose and moment of meditation. We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced
classes.

Your Training Schedule
Classes are very affordable at Sal Anthony's. We
encourage students to come several times per week to deepen their experience
and see changes in their bodies. See our Rates page
for great prices and packages, and the Class Schedule
for times and levels.
It is also an important part
of training to get Massage from time to time.
It will help your body integrate what you have learned and speed recovery
from any soreness. See our Swedish, Shiatsu, and Thai
Massage
page.
We also recommend supplementing your Yoga training
with Pilates private instruction or
Pilates
Mat Classes. Pilates is a powerful system of core strengthening which
complements the opening of the body that you experience with Yoga practice.
See our Pilates page for more information.
